Local Recommendations
Just a little list of a couple of places and things to do that we absolutely enjoy while we are on the coast.
Grocery Shopping:
- -Claiborne Hill Grocery is our go-to to stock up for our beach weekends. Local Seafood, Produce and prepared foods!
- -Seafood Markets- Ly Le’s Seafood Market on McLaurin Street, or Pass Christian Harbor just across the bay.
- -Wal-Mart and Froogels (Bay St. Louis) are around the corner.
Where to go and What to see:
- -Walk down Oak Boulevard to the Waveland beach! If you drive, you can park along Beach Blvd. Please be respectful of the no parking signs in front of driveways. (PF)
- -Walk your pups to Waveland Bark Park, just around the corner! (PF)
- -Elmwood Burgeouis Waveland Park has a splash pad for littles, basketball court and more! Waveland Ave at Central Avenue
- -Waveland Beach park is less than a 5 minute drive with parking, picnic tables, volleyball courts, bathrooms and more.
- -Waveland Ground Zero Hurricane Museum, Waveland
- -Waveland Public Library, Waveland
- -Food Truck Friday on Coleman Avenue, Waveland (2nd Friday of each month, weather pending. Check social media for updates.)
- -Buccaneer State Park & Buccaneer Bay Waterpark (Seasonal- check dates on website)

- -Canoe the Jordan River at McLeod State Park- rentals include paddles and life jackets! Rentals stop at 1:30pm.

Where to Eat, Drink and Be Merry!
Breakfast:
- -Mockingbird Cafe (BSL) - Breakfast Go-to- it gets pretty busy! Pet Friendly seating outside.
- -King Donuts (Waveland) - two words- “Boudain Kolache”, sneak in early to snag the best kolache’s on the coast.
- -Southern Bagel (Long Beach) - A little bit of a drive but worth it for yummy chewy bagels. They sell out quickly so check their social or call before heading that way.
Lunch and Dinner:
- -S&B’s Seafood (Waveland) - Local Eatery around the corner with fantastic poboys and fresh catch options.
- -Claiborne Hill Grocery Store (Waveland) - Order poboys and fries from the grocery- you won’t be disappointed!
- -Thorny Oyster (BSL) - a foodies delight! Great craft cocktails and unique bites.
- -Brooklyn Pizzeria (BSL) - 11/10 recommend their pizza. Crust is vegan friendly.
- -Ugly Pirate Tavern (BSL)- Unique local pub with mostly outdoor seating open after 4 pm on certain days with FANTASTIC pizza (and beer selection). Pizza crust is vegan friendly.
- -Indian Paradise (BSL) - authentic indian cuisine
- -Starfish Cafe (Bay-Waveland) - Great food with a good cause. Check social media for business hours.
- -Field’s Steak and Oyster Bar (BSL) - Fantastic Steak Restaurant
- -Cuz’s PoBoys (BSL) - Good sandwiches and seafood in the heart of BSL. Poboy French Bread is Leidenheimers.
- -Dan B’s (BSL) - Casual Bar atmosphere by the Bay
- -200 North Beach (BSL) - Casual dining, good burgers and pet friendly outdoor seating.
- -The Blind Tiger (BSL) - Casual atmosphere overlooking the bay with good eats.
- -The Loft (BSL) -No Food or Beer, but a nice quiet place to enjoy wine or cocktails overlooking downtown BSL.
- -Jordan River Steamer (Kiln) - Steamed seafood on the Jordan River. Pricey but worth it!
- -Sea Level (Pass Christian) - Great beachside shack serving up delicious food!
- -Shaggy’s Pass Christian- Causal Beach side joint with great views of the harbor.
- -Mr. Greek (Biloxi) - Great Mediterranean, family owned restaurant.
- -The Chimneys (Gulfport) - Great food, not dog friendly. Business casual dress code.
